Update

Okay... i haven't blogged in about a week yea? I know that if i don't blog again soon, i will get a few emails soon. So here's what i've been up to over the past week.

Monday (12/3)

The usual, the girls and i went to Kaiko, where they have weekly parties for students. Some Italian guy tried to hit on Evie (my Greek friend) and his Italian friend, Antonio, apologized to Yvonne (my Dutch friend) for kissing another girl at the club the week before. (He's expressed interest in Yvonne)

Yvonne, Evie, Taina (my Finnish friend) and I have thus, come to the conclusion that men from the south of Europe are very interesting creatures to observe especially at a club. Antonio is one of the best examples here. =) We are trying to see how many girls he flirts with in one single night.

Thursday (15/3)

The girls came over to my dorm for a drink and a girls talk. Spoke about many things and we enjoyed ourselves so much i think we are gonna have another one of those girls night this week. Taina finally ended her practical at AKH (the university hospital) and was badly needed to talk to us abt how she was bullied by the nurses in the hospital cos she didn't know enough medical terms in German. Evie had a super bad day at the lab and will have to clock 12 hours in the lab tomorrow just cos her supervisor told her to. As for me, i've had a bad German class. The people in my class already speak good enough German and i swear that they are there just to show off.

It was on this day that i realise that you can mix coke with red wine and it actually tastes quite good. We finished about 1 litre of red wine and i must say that is quite a lot of wine to drink!

Friday (16/3)

We went to an exchange students' party at this Palais that was commissioned by Kaiser Franz Joseph I (he's the kaiser i blogged abt previously). [Yes, if you are wondering, exchange students do about nothing but party all week. On Monday there's Kaiko, Tuesday there's Down Under, Wednesday there's SOHO night, Thursdays and Fridays are usually free but once in a while you get parties like the ESN party or the welcome party at Johann Strauss ( a party boat). ] And for my aunts who might be reading this, no worries, i don't go to all of them. The only regular one is Kaiko cos it's 5 mins walk from my dorm.

I met a Taiwanese guy, Jeff at this party and it was really nice talking to him. It's not everyday that you get a non Singaporean who is strong in both english and chinese. (He was in Scotland for high school, at Edinburgh for college and is now here at WU-Wien for exchange.) It is also not everyday that you can tell a person your chinese name and he knows how it is written. =)

Anw, the party was bad and so we left early. =P

Saturday (17/3)

We went to the Donauturm, a tower that gives u a great view of Vienna for coffee. The weather wasn't very good so it was oh well, not that crowded but the iced coffee was good and after a night of partying, you kinda just wanna sit and have a lazy afternoon. And since i went with the 3 other girls from NTU, i managed to get photos from their blogs!!! What oh what will i do without them?
(L to R) Cheryl, Me, Alex, Anesia, Mindy, Mandy and lastly Jeff. Vien sacrificed to take the pic for us. (sidenote, Mandy and Jeff are both from Taiwan)
The Donauturm - It's 252m in total and guess wad? U can bungee jump off this tower in summer!!!
View from the observatory deck. The deck was super windy. You didn't even really have to walk. Just stand there and wait for the wind to push u. ) Can see this from the girls' photo. I wasn't in it cos i went to the other side to look at the view.
Food, glorious food!
8 shows the ice kaffee i had. The girls personally thought i was mad to have ice cream in winter. 7 shows Kaiserschmarren, a favorite sweet with Kaiser Franz Joseph I, it's a really nice dish esp if u like pancakes but the serving is huge. And lastly, 9 shows u strudel with vanilla sauce.
And we eventually left at around 8pm, after having sat there for like 4 hours. It was really good.

Sunday (18/3)

Sunday was a great day. The sun was out and so, Evie, Chris and I went to Donauinsel. It's along the Donau (duh!) and it's kinda like Singapore's ECP for the locals. It was nice to see kids out playing and to walk along the river. The trees filled with cherry blossoms also helped cheer us up and the smell of the cherry blossoms was great!

The 3 of us eventually settled down in a Greek restaurant cos it seems like the only decent one around and had our coffees and lunch. The other 2 weren't too happy about being in a Greek restaurant for obvious reasons but i was happy with it. Lol~ First time i heard Greek music. =P

Anyway, just before we left, my 2 darling Greek friends asked why a Greek restaurant in Austria and they found out that the boss is Greek and has been in Vienna for over 30 years. He's even from the same hometown as Evie is and he also offered Chris a job at the restaurant while he was in Vienna. We found out that the 3 Greek restaurants on the side of the Donau we were on all belongs to him and it seems that they are popular with the locals during summer. The boss then went on to offer us some Metaxa. I must say it was really strong but it was nice, sweet and it really did help to clear my throat probs.
A 7-star Metaxa in its traditional bottle.

It was nice to experience Greek culture even in Vienna. =) Glad i chose Vienna. Its so international you meet people from just about every country.

Alrightey, this is again another long post so now i shall go off and do my shopping. Till next time!
Tschüss!
